**DFW Weekend Shortlist** | *What to do this weekend in the Mid-Cities, Tarrant County & beyond.*

If you’re looking for DFW events this weekend, this is a strong lineup for free outdoor music, community events, and easy local plans. Grapevine, Arlington, and Fort Worth all have standout options before you ever need to head east. Here’s my shortlist for September 25 through 27.

## This Weekend at a Glance

If live music under the stars is your thing, this weekend stands out right away. Grapevine Main LIVE! gives you two nights of free tribute concerts, Levitt Pavilion in Arlington has a full free concert weekend, and Fort Worth offers everything from a farmers market morning to a free museum weekend.

What I like most about this lineup is that you can build a full weekend close to home before you even start looking at Dallas or Plano.

## My Top Pick

My top pick this weekend is **Grapevine Main LIVE!** on Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Peace Plaza. Friday features Matchbook 20, a Matchbox Twenty tribute, and Saturday brings Gone Country, an Alan Jackson tribute. Admission is free, which already puts it high on my list.

This one checks almost every box for a great night out: outdoor music, a walkable downtown setting, and easy dinner options nearby at Harvest Hall. If you want one event to anchor your weekend in the Mid-Cities, this is the strongest nearby choice.

## Live Music in Grapevine and Arlington

### Grapevine Main LIVE!

If you want a true Friday-or-Saturday-night plan, Grapevine Main LIVE! is the easiest recommendation I can make.

### Levitt Pavilion Free Concert Weekend

Levitt Pavilion Arlington also has a great free concert weekend running Friday through Sunday, September 25 through 27. The lineup includes The Buffalo Ruckus on Friday at 8:30 p.m., Waterloo — A Celebration of ABBA on Saturday at 8:30 p.m., and UTA Jazz on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Bring a chair or a blanket and treat it like a picnic-style evening. This is a strong option if you want something flexible and easy, especially for families or anyone who likes a more relaxed concert setup.

## Family and Community Events in Arlington and Fort Worth

### Front Street Festival

Front Street Festival in Downtown Arlington is probably the best all-around family and community event on the list. It runs Saturday, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Knapp Heritage Park, with free admission.

Historic cabin tours, hands-on demonstrations, local vendors, live music, and family activities are all part of Arlington’s 150th-anniversary celebration. If you want something daytime, family-friendly, and genuinely community-centered, this is the one I would circle first.

### Free Closing Weekend at The Modern

The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is also offering a free closing weekend for *Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers* from Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. That includes tours, performances, and additional programming.

I like this as a backup plan if the weather turns or if you want something quieter than another festival.

## Markets, Food, and Pop-Ups Around Fort Worth and Dallas

### Clearfork Farmers Market + Free Community Yoga

For a slower Saturday start, the Clearfork Farmers Market in Fort Worth is a particularly good option. The market runs Saturday, September 26 from 8 a.m. to noon, and the free outdoor yoga class starts at 9 a.m.

You can browse more than 30 local farmers, ranchers, and artisan vendors, then walk the Trinity Trails or stay for yoga. It’s an easy Saturday-morning plan if you want something that feels active but not rushed.

### Boho Market

As a bonus Sunday option, Boho Market at Klyde Warren Park in Dallas is worth keeping in your back pocket. It’s a free pop-up makers market with local artisans, handcrafted goods, and vintage finds, plus food trucks and open green space.

It’s family-friendly, dog-friendly, and a good fit for a relaxed Sunday afternoon.

## Worth the Drive: Plano and Dallas Picks

### Otsukimi Moon-Viewing Festival

If you are up for heading east, the most distinctive event on this weekend’s calendar may be the Otsukimi Moon-Viewing Festival in Downtown Plano. It happens Saturday, September 26 from 6 p.m. to midnight at Haggard Park, with free admission.

Taiko drumming, sumo demonstrations, live music, traditional dance, martial arts, children’s games, hands-on cultural activities, and an expanded Japanese and Asian food pavilion make this one feel different from anything else on the list. For families especially, this is a very strong worth-the-drive pick.

### Prost! Oktoberfest

Prost! Oktoberfest at Dallas Farmers Market runs Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s free and covers a lot in one stop: live music, German-themed contests and activities, a pet costume contest, wiener-dog races, market shopping, and plenty of food.

If you want an event that blends market energy, food, and community atmosphere, this is an easy one to recommend.

## Christina’s Weekend Trio

If you want a ready-made weekend plan, this is the three-event itinerary I’d use:

- **Saturday morning:** Clearfork Farmers Market for coffee, local shopping, and a walk along the Trinity.
- **Saturday afternoon:** Front Street Festival in Arlington for the family activities and local community feel.
- **Saturday night:** Grapevine Main LIVE! for an easy outdoor concert in downtown Grapevine.

That gives you three different experiences in one day without overcomplicating the plan.

## Why This Kind of Weekend Fits Life in the Mid-Cities

Exploring the communities around DFW is one of my favorite parts of calling the Mid-Cities home. I share a new shortlist every week with things happening around HEB, Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake, Keller, Fort Worth and beyond. And if a move is part of your plans, I’m always happy to be a local real-estate resource.
